4 dead, 6 injured on Lagos-Ibadan expressway accident – FRSC

Four people were killed and six others were injured in a collision between a Mazda bus and a truck on the Iperu bridge in Ogere on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
On Tuesday, Mr Ahmed Umar, Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, verified this to reporters in Abeokuta.

“A Mazda bus with registration numbers YYY 412 XB and an unregistered truck was involved in a collision this morning about 6:25 a.m.”

“The Mazda bus driver was traveling at high speeds when he collided with a moving vehicle from behind owing to a light malfunction on the truck.” “The truck’s back lights, which were designed to notify cars approaching from behind, were not working,” he explained.

“Among the deceased was a male youngster.” The injured were transferred to the Victory Hospital in Ogere for treatment, while the deceased were deposited in the FOS Morgue in Ipara.

The sector commander recommended motorists check that everything in their car is in working order before beginning any trip, and he also warned them about speeding.

He expressed his condolences to the deceased’s families and asked them to contact the FRSC Ogere for additional information regarding the tragedy.
